Which CRX to choose 88Si or 90Si????
I have 2 CRX's in my shop. One is a 1988 CRX Si and the other is a 1990 CRX Si.
The 90 came with a B16A motor, tokico 5 way adjustable shocks, Skunk coilovers, DC header, and custome cat back exhaust. The 90 also has perfect interior. The problem with the 90 is the fact that is was recked and there is alot of bondo on the body, the sunroof doesn't work either, and the front fender and hood and driverside door are all fucked up. I bought the 90 for $1500. The 88 which I just got is a rolling body. It has no motor, lights, interior. The body is in good shape, all but the rear quarter panes where CRX's always rust. The reason I bought the car was because one door for my 90 CRX is 200 bucks and I needed 2 doors. The 88 was only $255. Now I am trying to deside which car I want to put everything good on and use as my car. Oh yeah the hole front end of the 88 is good so if anybody wants if let me know and i'll sell it to you. Before I got the 88 I had already bought a SiR front end conversion for the 90 since the front of the car was fucked up and it all needed to get replaced. I would appreciate any help you all could give me.

Well I know the 88's were the lightest years for the most part (as far as Si's anyways). My friends 88 Si with a I/H/E, jet ECU and centerforce II clutch ran a 15.6 and it was his first time dragracing. That was the stock motor btw. So if the body on the 88 is good I say hell yes go for it and swap the stuff over. The SiR front end maybe you could sell it and get another?
Why do I need to get another SiR front end?? The SiR front end is for a 88-91 CRX.
The one I have should fit. What I was saying was that if anyone wants the stock 88 front end I would sell it to them since I don't need it.

The only thing that kind of sucks about the 88 is how all the suspension is differnt on it and well so is the trans but you wouldnt have to worry about that since you have the swap I would swap evrything to the 88. Yeah the 90 is newer but you can make the 88 just like the 90 you can even swap the rear disc over so there isnt no reason why not to swap it all to the 88 and while your at it you can fix every little thing that is wrong with the 88 in the process then sell the 90 shell on ebay for like 500 or so bucks. (I saw a smashed up 89 stripped go for almost a grand)

Well if it were me I would keep the 90 and fix all the stuff that was wrecked, It sounds like it would be much less labor intensive to swap everything that you would want to the 88.The 90 has 4 wheel disk brakes and perfect interior + all of the performance stuff is in the 90. Yes the 88 is a lighter car but it won't save you that much. It is hard to say which is better, If the 90 is so bad that it can't be repaired then swap everything to the 88. As for bondo on the 90, you can replace panels and the front end can be replaced, It is just a matter of finding the parts you need and the knowledge to do it right.

90 Si's dont have rear disk. only the 91 si's.

Definately swap everything over...since you have both cars already, you could do everything in a weekend if you stick to a game plan and work hard...good luck.
311 My Friend,
You need to go look at a 1990 CRX Si and tell me that all of those years I owned mine that I was blind and that I didn't see those rear disk brakes. I had mine with 34,000 original miles and it was a 1 owner car. Believe me the guy that I bought it from back in 1996 did not do a brake swap.

Relax,
I deleted it! No harm or malice meant by my post. I was wrong for posting what I did and I am sorry. You are wrong about the 1990 Si not having rear disk brakes. I need to pick and choose what I say because I always forget that the way I word things offends some people and not others. Again I am sorry.

I'd say stick to the 90 and just fix it. It's a lot of work to do to just save a little weight. Like someone said on here earlier, everything will transfer over without a problem.
Now if you're planning on drag racing the car, then I'd say go with the 88 to save every little bit, but I don't think you're planning on that.

Your rhetoric is a sign of impotence. And when it comes to that kind of thing on this board it's everyone business. If you want to spew that kind of trash than Speedoptions has a lovely forum for you to participate in. - k bye bye now.

IMO i say keep the 88 and use the 90 for parts.
I agree......the 88 rear suspension ROCKS!!!! Ive owned many CRX's and the ones that I road race or autocross are the 88's. Not only for their lightness, but "Type R like" rear suspension. The car "rotates" well around corners. Some people feel the 88's are too twitchy at high speeds. Thats why Honda revamped the rear suspension.
My last 88 is now retired. I ran a best of 13.1 with stock internals, lightened flywheel, and a 65 shot of ZEX with that car. Ive sold the B16a out of it to one guy, and the rolling chassis to another guy. Now I have a 90HF with a B17 GSR (cable tranny) running OBD1 electronics for my "winter" and "track" car.
My all original, all rust-free 91 CRX SI still sits in the corner of my shop getting custom work done, little by little.
I love CRX's.....all of them.
I'd go for the newer REX with the better interior and 4 wheel disc brakes. If you are going all out road race, drag,,,,I'd say go for the 88. You have to decide if the time is worth it to switch over all the parts........
