Accord 2003, takes long to shift
So here's the problem, my car has been having this issue for about 3 years now and i don't know what is it or how to fix it, the car takes 30 to 45 minutes to shift into drive, whenever i try to do it before that time slot, it does nothing, it stays idle, like when you put it in Neutral, then, after i does take the first gear, it takes a bit longer to shift into second gear. It's very weird how when i drive, as soon as it tries to shift into 2nd, the rpm goes up (like when you press the gas pedal on N or P) only to then shift so hard, it feels like the car jumped and hit the motor or the wheels really hard. After it starts and i drive it for a while, it only does that whenever I'm going down shifts, like breaking for a red light or a speed bump and i have to drive it very carefully, otherwise, (as its happened before) the cars just won't go into gear and i have to wait up to an hour, turn it on and off again, for him to gear into drive. I've had nights after my shift where i turned the car on 1 hour before i clock out, only for it not shift into D/drive and have had to wait another 30 minutes or turn it off then on again to shift into drive. sometime, the (D) drive light, starts flashing and the shifting becomes even harder, like you can feel the car shifting as it were a manual transmission and you changed gears too late and its become such a hazard that I don't even allow other people in my car because of that, I'm afraid its going to keep me stranded (which did happen one time after my night shift and had to tow it back home). The car is a 2.4L engine, has 115,000 miles, Accord 2003 LX, I tried taking it to my mechanic but he said that i should just let it die or sell it to someone that wants a project car or something. Anything helps!
