Del Sol starting/stumbling issues.
Hey all. So I have a 93 Del Sol, 5 speed D15, I just picked up this year. ive been dailying it and fixing things as I can.
Up until now it's ran mechanically like a dream. Aside from an occasional issue where it starts and immediately dies, which I can always fix by removing and reinsterting the key, it runs beautifully. Starts right up on the first try.
Tonight though, when I went to leave my house, it cranked over much longer than normal before starting up. Taking off it acted like I was trying to take off in third, and I had to rev it much higher than normal to keep it from dying. Then going down the road, any time it's under load and at lower RPMS it would stumble/misfire and jerk when trying to accelerate. But runs fine once you get it above about 3k rpm. Or at least I don't notice anything above that it feels smooth
It seems to be intermittent too.
Once it had been driven for a bit it wasnt acting up as badly, it would take off smoothly and like Normal again, but the stumble/misfire in higher gears under acceleration was still there.
I can't really afford to take it to a shop, so I've been working on my own vehicles for years.
I'm just looking for advice on where I should start looking.
I plan to go check the plugs, wires, cap and rotor tommorow when it's daylight/not raining and see what I see. Do you guys have any advice on things I should specifically look at based on the symptoms? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like an ignition issue....either spark plug wires or distributor. Start the car and remove one of the spark plug wires at the valve cover. If it doesn't make a difference, you need to replace the wire.
