Hey guys, first post here. Hopefully I can get some good information, and make a thread so anyone who has my similar problem can also get it sorted.
car specs - 1989 DX 5 Speed Manual. 4 Door Sedan.
Backstory,
I have a civic that I purchased from a friend in 22’
it didn’t run, and had cosmetic issues. I spent the first few months of ownership cleaning it all up, getting new suspension and wheel, full service new plugs coolant oil. Had it great for a day on the road, second day it got smoked by a truck that field to yield. Blew the hood apart & dented in the fender & bumper. Smashed headlight the whole 9. At this point, I got the insurance pay out & the vehicle sat with no hood for a year.
I decided to tackle it again, but after sitting thru a full winter, and many rainy days with no hood, I can’t seem to get it to start. New battery, new spark plugs, compression test fine, sparks all test fine (just cranking with the plug grounded there is spark) there seems to be fuel pressure, (i loosened the nut on the fuel rail and it sprayed out..) I can hear the pump prime when I’m in the car. I replaced the main fuel relay under the dash just because I’ve heard lots of problems come with those.. Just crank crank crank but no start.
I took a guess at possible low fuel. The gauge reads 1/3 tank, but you never know. I opened the fuel cap and got blasted with an absolute load of pressure. It seems to be building up a lot. Not super familiar with these motors (d16, or Honda in general) coming from mostly Volkswagen and LS. Where would you guys suggest I look next? Thank you.
I would try to use like starter fluid to see if it’s a fuel problem, also make sure you have the correct firing order on the distributor and that you’re mechanical timing is correct
