I'm currently building a track/rally EJ8 (would have used an EM1 shell if they were available in Europe, I know). And the competition that I'm going to be running in requires that you have a valid front tow point. I've been looking online in a lot of places and most people drill into their front bumper crash bar in order to mount a tow hook or tow strap.
Problem is, EJ8's (at least in europe) never came with a front crash bar, and I feel like the crash bar will deform if at one point I do get towed from the front. I'm trying to look for an alternative to mount onto the front core support (right where the frame rails meet) or somewhere else other than the crash bar but I can't find any. Would love to see if anyone has any good alternatives.
This is my favorite universal tow strap. You can choose to bolt it on, or loop the strap and clasp around a bar like you would a seat harness to roll cage.
I installed a lower traction bar and looped around that. You could bolt to one of the oem lower tow mount bolts and route the strap out front.
Haha I meant european LHD, do the OEM tow points come out slightly? The rules they have for my local comps are pretty loose and they suggest that it needs to be 'clearly visible' and stick out at least 1cm from the front bumper. Either way the zerofighter one looks great, I just wasn't sure if it was meant to be mounted on the crash bar. Thanks

Oh thats actually a really neat way, though racequip doesn't really have any distributors in europe so finding a vendor that is willing to send it over here will be a challenge, I'll definetly take a look into it though. I really do prefer tow straps instead of tow hooks. Thanks!

There's a hook down on the bottom of the front frame rails. Might be able to modify it or use the mounting point (I think 3 bolts?) for a new hook. I've had to use that hook a couple times..

There was someone who made billet tow hooks that replaced those, they are nice, but do sit kind of low and if your lowered may hit speed bumps. He is also making bumper bars and such too.
