2000 Honda Civic - CEL and Shuts Off at Park
Hello,
I have a 2000 Honda Civic: 170,000 KM or 105,000 Miles.
The check engine light came on a few days ago but no flashing. It read Cylinder 4 Misfire. For context, the spark plugs were all changed approximately 6 months ago. Yesterday, when I went to start my car, the CEL flashed a couple of times but quickly became solid again and had no other issues. I have horses and they are 45 minutes from town, so I chose to drive out to feed them.
When I got to the farm, I put the car in park to open the gate and the engine stalled. Never happened before. Didn't notice any lights go off, just the engine. Restart the engine and drive up the hill, put car in park and it stalls again. Made it all the way home (45 minutes) of mainly highway driving with no issues. I got home and put the car in park and it did "start" to stall but ended up sorting itself out and staying on. I do suspect had I let it idle longer it would have stalled eventually.
I'd love to just take it to a shop, but it's not in the budget right now and I rely on this car for work and horses.
Thoughts?
