Like the title says my hatch is spitting fuel while filling up. I cant get more then $1 in fuel and starts to spit fuel. I’ve replaced the fuel tank the filler neck the evap system purge valve I even open the fuel sending unit thinking some back pressure was the cause and still nothing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

 

Did you run the gas to about empty? It may be air suction due to the pressurized system

 

Not while I’ve had the car. I bought it as a project car. But maybe the previous owner did. If he did how do I fix this problem.

 

You didn’t even stated what kind of mods or other issues it may have

it can be the EVAP canister, pinched fuel neck, etc

 

no other issues or mods. D15b7 engine, put a vapor canister on cuz it was missing one, put the exhaust on and drove it around the block went to put gas and that when the fuel spitting happened.

 

This has only happened with the new fuel tank ?

 

Yes is only doing it after I install the new tank. Reason for the tank replacement is because the old one had a hole in it.

 

There is a possibility that the vent hard line inside the tank is too close to the bottom of the tank. This causes fuel to come back up the fill neck as though the tank is full.
