Default Fuel Pressure Regulator for 2004 Civic

Hi, I have a 2004 Civic that smells of gasoline on the outside of the car after driving. No leaks are obvious. I see where a common cause can be
the fuel pressure regulator. On my car this is located in the fuel pump assembly in the gas tank under the back seat. My question is:
Do I have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly or can just the regulator piece be replaced separately?.

I checked the pump housing. It is not cracked but it looks like the seal has failed. It is pretty wet in there when I removed the plate.
Even though it is in the gas tank I assume it should be dry around the top of the pump. Is this correct? I also assume I will have
to replace the whole assembly unit. Correct? Thanks.

I have decided to replace the whole assembly. Better to be safe than sorry.

Both the seal and the regulator can be replaced without replacing the entire fuel pump assembly. The fuel filter is within the fuel pump assembly... if your car has high mileage, replacing the entire assembly may be a good idea.

I replaced the fuel pump. All went well. But now, a few days later, my gas gauge shows empty and my gas light
is on. I have plenty of gas in the tank. I will open it up again, but if I can't seee anthing obvious, can I
use the car, keeping track of miles driven to fill up after driving say 150 miles? It is a 2004 car and I can
live that if it won't damage anything>
