My wifes 2016 CR-V gas gauge stays on empty or goes from the correct reading to empty and back to correct reading and also the little gas pump indicator flashes off and on. It doesn't do this all the time but it is intermittent.

The car has 112,000 miles on it. For what it is worth, we never run the tank below 1/4 full and always use non ethanol gas. The car never acts up as far as the way it runs, it is just the gauge.

I'm guessing the gauge may be actually part of the fuel pump and the fuel pump may have to be replaced to correct the gauge problem. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? Or is there a different fix? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
