Roof rails for no rack Honda civic 2015
Hi all, I am trying to make my car into a car/camper I can drive cross country. My 2015 Honda civic LX 4 door sedan has nothing installed on top of it. It only has 17,000 miles on it and I plan on keeping the car until it stops working. Not worried about scratches or cosmetics. I want to put some rails or a rack on top of it to hold extra clothes, coats, etc not more than 100 pounds of stuff(clothes, etc). I have absolutely no idea how to do this or pick a size. I also cannot get it done at a Honda store as the charge is astronomical. I do not want them to fly off but just get them as cheap as possible but have the strength that I know it will not fly off. I don't even want to have to worry about them coming off as it would kill me if my rack flew off and hurt someone while traveling. I want to hold soft bags up there- not something hard like a huge hard type case. I know the weight is about 600 pounds for trailing which isn't much ,so nothing to heavy so aluminum? would there be any that are clip-ons that are trustworthy??? I do not intend to take them off but also do not want a bunch of holes put on top of the car that could cause water to get in as that is where all my living stuff will be while traveling. I am traveling for the next year or two in this-so something semi permanent that I can stack winter clothes and stuff in. Not planning on being anywhere cold but you never know. Can anyone give me some advice on size, type, etc that isn't expensive but more on the lines of 100 or so dollars. On a fixed income or I would want the best..lol That might not even be possible, and I have read on amazon about just needing some ties that run through the cars but reviews are really maybe it works maybe it doesn't. I don't just any reviews on amazon away as there is a lot of junk to sort through. I have looked all over trying to find the size of the roof of my car and cannot find it. I am working with I can only put about 300 pounds on the roof including what I am going to put into the luggage. Any help from anyone. Thanks in advance Julie
