dashboard lights
It's a common problem on the 4th Gen Ludes - especially now that they are over 20 years old. The display is a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) which uses a higher voltage than the 12V battery voltage. The most likely failure is the power supply for it which is on it's own PCB sub-board connected to the board with the screens. The capacitors are electrolytic which means they have a liquid dielectric in them and over time these will eventually leak out and "dry up". These kinds of capacitors just will not last forever and it's honestly impressive that they have lasted this long. It seems to start with it not working/flickering when using the dimmer and can flicker at full brightness. Eventually it will just die.
If you can solder, you can replace the caps with new ones of the same capacitance rating and the same or higher voltage rating. If you know of anywhere or anyone that can repair electronics they can do it as it's a common repair (or kind of maintenance) called "recapping" that is done on old electronics like amplifiers, computers, and game consoles.

Good day.
I'm from South Africa. My heat gauge and petrol GAUGE dash lights is taking forever to get to the brightness so I can see it and when I drive in night time I can see nothing on them. How can I fix this problem my self? We don't have the available parts or accessories like in your countries and are very limited. Do you have any photos or videos available of how and what to replace. I have already fixed my interior blower control board. Did all the necessary Soldering that I have seen on a YouTube video.
I had problems with with the idle and water system, did fixed that as well. I have this '92 Prelude for almost 2 months and trying to fix all the small problems on it. It's a wonderful luxurious vehicle and is so happy with it.
