Driver power window not working after re wiring
Hi,
I was having issues with driver side power mirrors (not windows) on my car (97 civic lx) and decided to turn to the connector for the door. Since many wires were falling out I decided to just buy a new connector and I used butt connectors to connect the new connector and its wires to the old wires which i had cut out. It’s worth noting I did short two wires resulting in a spark in the process since I hadn’t disconnected the battery to save smog data. After finishing the rewiring i noticed the drivers side power window stopped working, which worked fine before. All other windows still worked.
I’ve checked my wiring that I changed and it all seems to make a connection. I’ve also checked the fuse for the window and it is good. I’m not really sure what else to do aside from replacing the motor or switch, which I find it unlikely to be faulty since they worked fine, although maybe they failed as a result of me shorting the wires.
I’m completely new to working on cars, i just bought this car a few weeks ago as my first car. I don’t have much equipment, but I do have a multimeter.
Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks
