Rebuilding my d16y8 because it spun a rod bearing. Got a reman crank without any specs if they polished it or not. First set of main bearings read .003in with plastiguage on all journals and I felt that was a bit too loose so I went .0010 oversized the next set and they read good with plastiguage-all journals .001 my only issue is now the crank won’t spin when torqued down and when I take the girdle off the crank gets stuck inside the bearings on the block. So I’m in fsm spec but it’s binding up? What’s my issue here
You're pretty much gonna have to mic it if you don't know and/or it's been reworked. Mic the mains and main journals, then pick the bearing from this table based on your math:
Plastigage is great for verifying your work, or verifying if you chose the right bearing based on the factory markings. I don't personally feel that it's accurate or precise enough to be a reliable primary measurement though.
Have you checked the crank for runout? Or the mains tunnel for straightness?
Here's all the part numbers for the bearings and thrust washer for a D16Y8 so you can search by part number. They technically are still available, but may be out of stock? Dunno what to tell you. These things are getting tougher to find by the minute. Guessing you've tried the dealer? How about Hondapartsnow.com, et al?
