B18C2 head on b16 block?
Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum because I've been having a hard time finding quantifiable information on this question over the past few months. Are there any notable benefits or detriments to putting a b18c2 head on a b16 block. Will the d series wiring harness work with this and will swapping this into a d series eg civic be any harder than a regular b16 swap?
Thank you in advance.
Thank you in advance.
I never heard of the B18C2 head, I heard of B18C1 (GSR).
Years ago, I assembled a GSR head on a B16 block can't remember the pistons it had but I sold it to a member here and he made really good power I think 170 HP maybe more.
As far as wiring harness I couldn't tell you but I'm sure you can make it work or search more on what harness will work. and it shouldn't be any harder than a B16 swap.

As far as I can tell the B18C1 is the American name for the B18C2, which is in the Australian market. Basically the same engine it seems. And the wiring harness apparently should work fine according to a quick search. Thanks for the info, looking forward to getting it into my car. Really sick of this d15 single carby piece of junk.
The main difference is that a GSR head on a B16 block will net a higher compression ratio with the same pistons. This will require custom tuning.
D series harness will work, but you will need to add some things. It depends on what ECU and intake manifold setup you are going to use.
Factory OBD1 VTEC ecus need VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure switch, and knock sensor.
OBD2 needs crank position sensor also.
GSR intake manifold needs air-intake bypass.
Pay close attention to what the ECU wants for EVAP system. The OBD1 and OBD2 systems work opposite of each other and are wired different at the engine. Some JDM ECUs don't even have this function.
