AC clutch will not engage - 2009 Honda Civic EX
2009 Honda Civic EX - 68k miles (1st owner, I don't drive very much).
I am by no means a car guy or even amateur mechanic, but I'm trying to research and do any non-invasive troubleshooting that I can before I throw myself at the mercy of a shop.
preface--I used one of those all in one cans with the gauge/hose a 2 summers ago when the AC first stopped blowing cold. This very well could be where my issues started.
Fans come on - it actually kind of seems like the fans are just always on when the key is in at least accessory mode. I can verify this if it seems relevant.
but the AC clutch does not engage. Tried all of the things below and AC Compressor never comes on:
tried the HVAC diagnostic on start up. No code flashes in HVAC console.
checked high/low - both high and low show 75 PSI. Not sure if this means anything if the compressor is not running.
Replaced cabin/engine air filters
Replaced AC Relay.
Tried to push on the clutch a bit with a pry bar.
Tried a relay tester with an on/off switch.
I have manifold gauges and a vacuum pump, but can I even refill the coolant if the compressor won't kick on?
Are there any other diagnostic steps I can try? My assumption at this point is that I may need a new AC clutch at the very least.
I appreciate any input or suggestions. If I failed to provide any important details, please let me know.
Thanks!
