Default Adjusting my Del Sol Coilovers

hello, I am doing some work on my front end, and thought now would be a great time to adjust the coil over suspension. I hear if they are lowered too much it can create wear and tear from turning too sharp and hitting the frame.

does anyone know how to adjust it and make sure there’s tons of clearance? thx.

btw i’m looking for the softer ride vs a bumpy one. I live in vancouver. the brand is TEIN. does anyone know a recommended preload for these?

thx.

Those appear to be single adjustment that change ride height only. Doesn't seem to have a 3rd lock-collar at the bottom that allows separate preload adjustment from ride height.

BTW fine adjustment of ride height can be tricky. If you raise both fronts, it will slightly lower the rear (and vice versa). If you raise only one corner, it will lower the opposite corner (and vice versa). Each adjustment always has a side effect on something else.

Also it's difficult to gauge each adjustment unless you put slip plates under the tires cause you're tires will bind your suspension each time you put the car back on the ground. It makes the car sit higher.

so basically these coil overs won’t provide any suspension for the car at all then?

If it's too rough, it's probably just too low. Raise all 4 corners and you will have more travel all around.

is there any way to raise all 4 corners by the exact same measurement? i assume i just measure from the top of each coil over to the bottom collar?

You just count me he number of turns of the adjustment collar. If the collars aren't marked just put a black mark with a sharpie.

Turn all 4 corners up by 4 or 5 turns. Then drive around and recheck your ride height.

THe rear may rise at a different rate because the front & suspensions have a different motion -ratio.

Expect to adjust and test drive a bunch to get the height where you like.
