Icon4 Check Engine Light Clears when Car Restarts

Vehicle: [ 2021 Honda CR-V Hybrid Touring 40K Mile ]

Hi everyone.

This is not specifically for me, but for my mother.

Shes uncomfortable right now because this issue has happened once before.

Both times she was driving at least 50MPH.

Check engine light comes on. Diminished throttle and power so she has to pull over.

She turns the vehicle off. Waits 2 minutes. Turn the car back on. Check engine lights are cleared.

She took the vehicle to Honda and they did a full diagnostic for $190 but said they could not find anything.

Obviously, I feel uncomfortable for her because I don't want her to be in danger.

My question is: If the vehicle codes clear from a restart, is there an ODB device or something I can install on her car that would capture the code and keep it in the memory to check after the fact?

I'm open to any other suggestions.

Car has had no accidents or anything of the sort and she has kept up with all maintenance schedules.

I’m surprised that the dealership didn’t find any stored codes.

I’d buy mom a cheap and easy to use code reader. Make sure it can display the OBD codes. Tell her next time this happens, pull over safely but don’t turn off the car and read the codes with the scanner.
