Default S40 housing bearing race stuck (FIXED)

New member to this site looking for some help.

Took apart the tranny to change out the 3-4 shift fork, and now I'm having a really good time trying to remove the bearing race from the housing, can't for the life of me take it out. Tried heat on the back side of the housing and a few taps and nothing, prying it proove to be useless as there's no space to grab from, the only thing that fits is a small pick but that turned useless really quick.

Any pointers as how to remove it?

Thanks in advance.

Super easy.. If you have or can rent one, a slide hammer with the small 3 jaw puller. I was able to use my slide hammer with the 3 small jaws inverted so they went through the ID of the bearing with enough clearance behind the bearing so it grabbed. Nice straight pull and out it comes.

OK after studying I noticed the metal oil slinger had a gap at the bottom that could allow me to remove the race, so I removed it and sure enough some long 90° needle nose pliers wedge between the race and casing and a few blows to the hasing and the race came out

Now for the other question can I scuff the mating surface so the bearing can go in smoother (not removing aluminum material) or is it supposed to press in tight?

Because when I removed the casing the bearing stayed with the shaft, when I went to put the casing back it got stuck and I couldn't get the casing to sit back in

Could try freezing the bearing over night then slapping it together quickly!?

Will try that, I mean the housing is only 1/8" apart from the tranny, the problem is the sealant I'm using ( FoMoCo TA-31) dries up pretty quick while Im working to get the casing in place, might need to get the Honda sealant.

I used hondabond. When using that stuff on the casing mating surface, you really only need a very tiny thin bead around it. It will squeeze out into little bead ***** if you use too much and will have that floating around inside the case.

Well looks like I has a little bit to rough putting the case in, I broke the dam thing, that would explain why the bearing wouldn't come out of dam housing, $150 bucks later I have a new to me trans unknown miles, or which one it as it's missing the tags.
Will post the pics of the carnage tomorrow, now im in search of a casing.
Are all these 96-00 D series casings the same?

seems from what I read I just bought an EX tranny P4A-BOOO no tags on tranny, looks painted as if it were rebuild at one time.
