Honda Bi-Directional Diagnostic Tool Options for DIYer’s
After rather extensive research, I found the following bi-directional diagnostic tool options for Honda/Acura DIYer’s on a budget. Hope the information is helpful to some of you. I only covered just a few options that I believed viable and cost effective. The list is by no means thorough and my sources may not be 100% accurate. I’d appreciate that you share your experience (tool setup of choice) or correct my errors.
1. Foxwell NT510 Elite / NT530 ($100-200). People reported that it could accomplish most of what Honda HDS can do including pulling TPMS DTCs.
2. Autel MX808S ($300 - $450), not sure if it can pull TPMS DTCs. For TPMS diagnosis, MX808S-TS ($550 - $700) may be necessary.
3. XTool D7 ($250-350), D8 ($400-600), not sure if they can pull TPMS DTCs. They can do TPMS reset though.
4. OEM Honda Diagnostic System i-HDS
1. Foxwell NT510 Elite / NT530 ($100-200). People reported that it could accomplish most of what Honda HDS can do including pulling TPMS DTCs.
2. Autel MX808S ($300 - $450), not sure if it can pull TPMS DTCs. For TPMS diagnosis, MX808S-TS ($550 - $700) may be necessary.
3. XTool D7 ($250-350), D8 ($400-600), not sure if they can pull TPMS DTCs. They can do TPMS reset though.
4. OEM Honda Diagnostic System i-HDS
a. Software: Honda i-HDS software suite (includes HDS for older vehicles)
i. Subscribe on https://techinfo.honda.com ($45/day, $200/month, $1,800/year)
ii. Pirated versions may be found on the internet, some are infected with viruses.

b. Hardware:
i. Laptop with Microsoft Windows 10 Professional (64 bit) and above
ii. One of the following pass-thru VCI that is compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2, plugged into vehicle and connected to the laptop.
ii. One of the following pass-thru VCI that is compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2, plugged into vehicle and connected to the laptop.
1. Honda Antares Capsule (HAC) Smart Vehicle Communication Interface BSEHAC001, latest Honda officially supported VCI. ($779 from https://acura.snapon.com/HondaAcura/...t?id=BSEHAC001)
2. OPUS IVS Mongoose-Plus, independently validated by device manufacturer. ($540 wired, $700 Bluetooth, $995 SuperGoose, available on Amazon, https://www.opusivs.com/j2534/mongoose/)
3. Denso DST-i, Honda legacy official VCI. (Expensive, over $2,000)
Supposedly any pass-thru VCI that is compliant with SAE J2534-1 and J2534-2 should work. But there may be compatibility issues because they are not officially tested and supported. People reported using Autel MaxiFlash, CarDAQ, GM MDI2, Snap-on Pass Thru Pro, and Ford VCM2.

Autel is a fantastic aftermarket option for the DIYer who is looking for more than a code puller.
Launch would be my second recommendation.
