2017 CR-V 1.5 AWD not pulling itself
I have 2017 CR-V with a 1,5 AWD. We were driving down the interstate with cruise control on and all of a sudden the engine revved up like it went into neutral. We pulled over and the CR-V didn't have forward or reverse. There was no audio sounds like and grinding gears or metal churning. Please give me a list of things that could cause this. Thanks in advance.
Correct. CVT failed at 98000 miles. Quickest way to diagnose this is to remove the magnetic transmission drain plug. Mine had two pieces of the CVT belt attached to it. Thanks again Ryanthegreat1
Common failure too.
Honda has a TSB for it including sweeping the pan with a magnet to find bits of belt.
They were replacing CVTs left and right. Not sure if they had an extended warranty or not.

New to this forum so sorry for the late chime in. The CVT in my 2021 2WD CRV EXL died at 24,000 miles. Very interesting circumstance that caused the failure. I was making a u-turn to grab a parking space and had to go in reverse and then back to drive quickly due to oncoming traffic. When I tried backing up, there was no reverse. Thankfully, drive still worked and I was able to drive to my local Honda dealer a couple of miles away. Honda warrantied it but really? 24,000 miles?
