Icon5 2011 Honda Odyssey Diagnosing Continuous Cranking Issue

Hi everyone,

I’m having a bit of a problem with my 2011 Honda Odyssey and could use some advice. The vehicle was working fine until suddenly next day it started cranking continuously when I try to start it. Here are the details:
  • Issue: When I turn the key to start the engine, it cranks continuously and does not stop. The key does return to its normal position (Position 2) after turning, but the cranking just keeps going non-stop and van does not start.
  • Fuel: It does have gas in the tank. However, the fuel gauge is showing low because the car is parked on a steep slope.
  • Other Details: The car was running smoothly before this issue began, and I haven’t noticed any other problems recently.
Also here is the YouTube video of what is happening that I recorded, some reason you can't hear the video properly on laptop speakers if you use phone, you can clearly hear the starter cranking nonstop.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’m trying to avoid a costly trip to the mechanic if there’s a simpler fix or something I can check myself.

Thanks in advance for your help!

It could be the fuses for the ignition and possibly the fuel injection fuse. Be sure check all of them, if one of them are blown replace it. Good luck! 👍

This picture 🔽 is the Primary Fusebox the 11 is the main fuel injector fuse, and the 10 is the ignition coil fuse. They are both 15A fuses OEM part number: 38231-SA5-003

This picture 🔽 is the secondary Fusebox. Fuse 2&3 are the Ignition mains Its possible these are blown but I doubt it, but better safe than sorry so check them. Part number: 38231-SNA-A11

Was it already at half tank when you put the 2 gallons in? I'm confused

tell you truth I dont remember since I have 2 cars and my dad was driving that one that day.

but I can't understand why fuel gauge was showing low and then after 2 gallons of gas and plugging starter cable and battery it is working now and now gauge at half of tank.

Bad fuel maybe? I don't know why it would raise to half but, it could be faulty gauge? but if it works now then just drive it and see if it happens again because if it ain't broke don't fix it
