I have a 2001 Civic ex coupe, was my daily driver. Suddenly lost power on freeway, burnt smell coming from engine, and a strange clanking noise that comes periodically. Car starts right up and runs but with these issues. Any idea what is going on here? Told by shop engine needs replaced. $5000 parts and labor. Too pricey. Shop said all they did was check oil and found metal shavings. They didn't want to do any further exploring. I don't want to junk the car and to me it would be worth fixing If it could be done on a budget. I don't have the means to do any exploring or fixing myself or have a "cars guy" buddy to help me out. I'd love to know what the exact issue is but I know that won't be determined without an engine tear down. Still, any educated guesses??

In video clanking noise is heard at the end. Engine is smoking slightly around the 4th cylinder nearest to timing belt. The car had been sitting a while before start up.
