Default Swapping D16Y7 to D16Y7

Hello everyone! I am very new to working on cars and have a few questions that I’d like advice/answers for! (I hope I’m posting in the correct threads, this is all new to me!)
Last year I blew the engine in my 99’ Lx civic. Everything was stock besides redone suspension from the previous owner (I am 3rd owner with 160,144 miles on the car). I bought a D16Y7 engine from a 96’ hatch off of a guy I thought was a buddy of mine who says the miles are around 160-175k. So here are my questions.
1) am I going to need a new wiring harness? I am not very mechanically inclined but was told I would need a new harness. (If yes, what harness? I know there are OBD1A/OBD1B etc, etc but again, I’m new to this!)
2) since the miles on the “new” engine are potentially unknown, should I buy a rebuild kit and just commit to rebuilding the engine? (I don’t trust his word at all since he sold the wheels off of my car while it sat in his unit until I had somewhere to put it, and took the distributor off of my blown engine)
3) If it is in my best interest to rebuild the engine with a kit, where could I find a quality/decently priced rebuild kit?
Thanks for reading my post! Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!
