2005 Odyssey - Sliding Door Sckronk then Beep
Watch and listen:
The noise originates from behind the rear quarter panel above the tire.
The noise occurs the moment the door stops at fully-open/latched-in-place.
There are no B-codes; the Slide Door light is not lit in the cluster.
The slide door rehome procedure is not relevant to this problem.
With Main Switch set to OFF, I manually open the slide door to fully-open/latched-in-place, then set Main Switch to ON, then press Door Open rocker; the following sequence occurs: The slide door motor attempts to open the door beyond current position; something makes the noise I recorded; the slide door motor immediately stops; and the alarm sounds. This sequence repeats every time I press the Door Open rocker. The slide door does not automatically reverse itself.
I had presumed that one or more end-of-travel switch(es) exist that are triggered when the slide door is fully-open and latched-in-place... until I read in the HSM that there is/are no such mechanism(s). Instead, the power slide door control unit "judges that the door is fully open" using pulses sent to it by the power slide motor pulser. Finally, the alarm that follows the noise might indicate a 'slide motor current detection' event (ref: HSM p.22-433). I have no idea how to troubleshoot any of these possibilities.
This slide door reliably opens and closes as required, every time. However, the presence of that unknown, unpleasant noise indicates the imminent failure of some integral widget.
