My alternator went bad on my 2010 Crosstour. I'm DIY replacing it for my first time following a few YouTube videos. I'm stuck on how do I remove this light purple/ blue clip from my old alternator? I've tried leveraging the tab outward with plyers and flatheads, but no luck.

these are not easy- most people just cut the strap from the cable or yank on it and break it.

it's possible to release the two tabs that lock it in place. If you can see one when you lift the circular base of the clip- I use a flat head screwdriver or small needle nose pliers - you may have a chance of releasing the tabs to get the clip out intact.

alternate is to release the strap on the cable tie side with a very small screwdriver or dental pick. this may make it easier to remove the clip from the alternator with it out of the engine bay.
