Y1 Transmission snap ring woes
absolutely cooked the snap ring for a JDM Y1 Transmission, housing is repaired and bearing has been replaced cannot locate the correct size snap ring, one out of a us LS trans is much too small.

Might have to just get a snap ring kit that has multiple sizes. I see them for around $20.. I'm sure you could use one from a universal kit because it does not have to be precise for size, just as long as it's slightly bigger than the ID of the rings bore.
If you have a 90-91 ls tranny for spare parts, you can do a slight upgrade for the shift forks in your Y1 trans.I used the shift forks from the ls for gears 1st/2nd and 5th since they have more beefier gussets and are a direct swap into the Y1. 3rd/4th gear shift fork does not match. I learned this when I rebuilt my Y1 and had to have my fork brazed with bronze to repair a ring groove on the fork face for 3rd gear shift position.
