Help with charger/cig lighter; where is the relay?
Am amending my original post regarding testing the wiring & parts of my cigarette lighter that has not been working. Fuses were fine, and I figured out how to test for continuity and power the connecter, harness, etc. I finally know that all of that is working. I plugged in my car charger that I use in another vehicle and it shorted the circuit. Drats! I changed the fuse (#22, 15A under hood) and tested all that again. All good. So this time, I just inserted the actual cigarette lighter into the socket. I'd bought a new Honda OEM cig lighter assemble, so the spring button was working. Turn on key...wait a little bit...'pop'! The cig lighter popped out, and it was hot. So even though the cig lighter now works, I still can't claim victory because the whole point was to get a functioning charger in the car's cig lighter assembly. I understand why my charger could have shorted, but upon inspection it still seemed it should have worked (based on size, design).
So my new post and big question is whether there is a Honda OEM charger socket that retrofits into the space and wiring like the cig lighter, BUT is designed to accommodate the more modern chargers. I don't care if it provides a round cylindrical socket (because I can get a male charger plug) or a USB. I have done some research on this and I haven't seen anything yet that is Honda specific, and it does seem that many chargers are designed more for the modern power supply than the older, deeper sockets of the cig lighters. Any help will be appreciated.
thank you
