I’m in search of a specific OEM crank. Short story, I bough a 1998 H22A4 type SH engine for a project car and upon installation prep I found the crank broken. Disassembly revealed a completely built bottom end with 88mm block guard sleeves, 88mm wiesco 6572m88 domed pistons, 11.7:1 compression, and 143mm h beam rods. Bought a new crank year specific and upon assembly I found the stroke was too long and the piston extended 0.08 beyond deck height. Measured the stoke to be 95mm which is common for the h22. The old crank had 2 2 cast into it which is correct for the block but measures a shorter stroke. My question is, is there another 55mm crank with 5mm shorter stroke? 90.7mm to be specific made for a 2.2? Did they make different cranks for this engine? I can’t find anything anywhere. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

 

The 95mm stroke crankshaft is for the H23, both VTEC and non-VTEC. ALL H22's have a 90.7mm stroke... early blocks (through 97.5 model year) have the small 50mm main journals, the late 97.5+ blocks have the large 55mm main journals. It appears that you have the crankshaft from a '98+ H23A VTEC engine.

Got her fixed up! Was indeed an h23 crank. H22 was proper.
