'16 Honda CR-V Gas & Horsepower issues
Hello! I am new here. Just hoping to find someone who may give me more insight into this because I am just getting the total runaround. I posted on Facebook initially in a Honda group. Most responses were just to do a tune-up and/or basic things that have already been done. I have a 2016 Honda CRV EX-L. I love my little car and have never had major issues until now. Mind you, it still drives, but I am just getting overly frustrated.
I have above average knowledge in some parts of vehicle maintenance, but I am a nurse by trade so possibly needing layman's terms.
Here is the situation. Over the last several months I have seen a severe drop in gas mileage. From roughly 26mpg (according to my dash) to around 20/21mpg. I am noticing that I am fueling more often as well. So I do believe that it is an accurate issue. Second, it is now just struggling to accelerate period. If I know I am going to have to make a quick acceleration, I typically turn off the A/C but today I was literally pedal to the metal and it just would not move. I know that it is a 4-cylinder, but this was just ridiculous! Lastly, I noticed that my car is "ticking" intermittently. This may be a whole unrelated issue. But I do hear ticking and there is no pattern. Also, smells a little burn-ish at times ever since I hit a deer. That actually seems to be when a lot of issues popped up. I was told there was no frame or mechanical damage outside of a busted washer fluid reservoir. But again, not my forte.
Note - No lights on dash. Computer reveals no stored codes. Fresh oil change and filters is new as well. I have not done any major servicing related to flushing (please don't come for me!) I have been told by so many different things by dealerships (even Honda ones!) that it could be spark plugs? Needing a complete system flush, etc. I stopped listening to the Honda dealership after she asked me whether I had serviced the timing belt. To which I replied that I believe it's a timing chain and that should have no relevance to my current issues.
PS- I'm also having an issue with the car since I bought it. People complain that my bluetooth sounds like I'm in a "wind tunnel". Idk if I should take to Honda or if a stereo store could address the issue. Any side notes on that are sooooo appreciated.
I am a single pregnant woman who is working and going to school and I just cannot afford to throw money to diagnose. Not to mention, I still have a note on the car. I plan to get a passport/pilot in the next few years but have to make this car last until then.
Thank you guys soooo much!
