Helppp! I'm new, I'm a girl and I need advice on a programming issue
Hello to everyone! I am new to this site so if I do or say something wrong pls just LMK. I will summarize this mess and see if anyone could pls possible provide some insight. You'll probably think I trusted dummies to do this. But here it goes!
-The car was getting difficult to start. I researched it and found it was the ignition lock system. But everyone else said the key was worn out.
-So, they got the key and it didn't work, it needed "reprogramed" so they said to get the car to them and they will program it. In the meantime they lose the original key.
-They finally believe it is the ignition system and go to take it off since I ordered a new one. Not knowing the reversed screws he cuts off fthe bracket. Now we need a brakcet. He finally get that all taken care of.
More happens but here is the summary- There is a new ignition lock system installed. The key matches the original key and any codes that go with that. The lock cylinder's tumblers were keyed to the original and the key is cut to the original. So, you should just have to program the key to the new system. The attempt was made to repogram the system with 5 failed attempts. Done by where we purchased the key. So, now we call a locksmith. He spends a ton of time. He finally cuts a new key. Tries to program it and it gives him an error the the negative cable has a problem. We check the cable and the cable appears fine. Great connections and he had a box on his jumper cables that says "good connection". He says the key is programmed but the green key light is still flashing and the car starts, which it has through this whole process, then immediately dies. No one, even the service guys (3 of them) at the dealers service centers know what's wrong. We did not take the car into them because a this point we are in deep on money already and we are not sure if it is worth it. Note: one of the guys said when they were swithcing things around the part of ignition system with the green connector was not switched. Does anyone have any ideas what so ever?
