D16Y8 Distributor Rotor Removal
You might have solved your issue by now but for simplicity, make a mark -fine line across the top mounting ear of the distributor to the head and then just remove the distributor. It will be much easier to access the rotor screw than doing light "cranks" to get it to align with the internal plastic cover. Once done replacement, just bolt the dizzy back on and align the timing mark you made previously and should be good to go!
(Would be wise to replace the o-ring on the distributor while it's out)
