Acura rsx issues
My 2005 Acura rsx is having fuel issues i believe but I don’t know how to diagnose or fix it. I can’t rev passed 5500 it starts bouncing off when I get there. There’s black smoke coming out of the exhaust while back firing. I can also smell fuel it’s pretty strong but I don’t see any fuel leaks anywhere. Also when my car warms up it starts dropping rpm and sits at 4-500 and then eventually shuts off. If I turn it on it’ll just shut off again after half a second.
You are running rich. Check your fuel pressure. 47-51 psi is the default. Look at the shop manual for installing a fuel gauge. Also, your spark plugs are carbonated, so you have difficulty restarting it. Your fuel assembly (fuel pump, fuel regular, fuel filter) may be bad. You will need to get an after-market part due to the discontinued part. You can find this in eBay. When you test the fuel pressure on the fuel rail, you remove the pulsation dampener and install an adapter to connect to the gauge. The reason you are running rich is because you have low fuel pressure. The ECU will signal to pump more fuel to the injectors. The domino effect is the unburned fuel due to excessive fuel with the same amount of oxygen.
