Hi, I've been searching all over the internet and cannot seem to find an answer. Dealers also seem to be somewhat stumped at the moment.

My power tailgate stopped functioning. It does not open via key fob, interior or exterior buttons. No response at all. It also does not open when using the "manual" latch on the interior access panel behind the latch.

I suspect the main issue is related to water damage to the microcontroller, because that is what others have experienced in this model, but I cannot even access it because I can't get the trunk open.

Any ideas from the experts on this blog on ways to get the trunk open if the manual latch doesn't seem to be working? I can push it clockwise like instructed, but it does not seem to do anything.

Basic Operation
OPEN: The power tailgate can be opened by operating the driver's power tailgate switch, tailgate outer handle switch, hands free access function, or the remote under the following conditions:

• All door's lock **** switches are in UNLOCKED.
• The keyless tailgate button is pressed and held for 1 second (other switches except the keyless tailgate button are pressed).
• The hands free access power tailgate control unit/sensor detects kick motion (when the hands free access power tailgate function is enable).
• Shift lever is in P position/mode.
• The vehicle speed is less than 1 mph (2 km/h).
• Battery voltage (VBU) is more than 11 V.
• System is not in failsafe mode.
• Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode (remote operation only).
• Closer unit detects the ratchet switch is ON, and full latch switch and half latch switch are OFF (full-closed position).
• Closer unit detects the ratchet switch, full latch switch, and half latch switch are ON (except full-closed position).
• Previous actuation: CLOSE operated.
• When programmable height function is completed (when the programmable height function is enable).
