Ignition and timing issues. Need help!
I just converted my ek 99 from obd2b non-vtec to obd1 vtec. My set up is engine block d16y4 (non-vtec block), head is p2j-5 (single stage vtec), I'm running p08 obd1 ecu, TD73u distributor converted to obd1, 70mm throttle body. Wiring is done and no cel codes on the dash.
I got the engine fully assembled and rebuilt using all brand new parts.
Here are my issues
1. In cold start idle is very low and keeps misfiring, when it comes up to temperature it seems to run better.
in low rpm acceleration is very sluggish slightly misfiring, car doesn't pickup untill 2k rpm. After 2k rpm it runs better but still not much throttle response
2. I can't get my ignition timing to 16° I have cut my distributor to advance it much as possible but still the ignition timing is 14° also when the distributor is maxed out I get ignition knock.
The engine timing is set correctly to tdc
3. My mechanic tells me to get the correct distributor for this head but I have no idea what kind of distributor this head uses.
if anyone knows a solution please let me know im kinda running out of options now .
if I do a coil on plug conversion will it automatically set the ignition timing to 16° and i dont have to adjust the distributor to get the correct ignition timing ?
Or
Should I get d15b7 (td41u) distributor will that solve my timing issue ?
