Default Rusty thread on the battery retaining screw

Anybody has the same issue?
My retaining screw that is near the engine is rusty only above the nut. It is fine below the nut/bracket. The other screw is fine.
Why?

Battery acid. Completely expected and unfortunately normal.

Question is not which substance caused it but why on one but not the other.

Air flow? G forces? It's almost always the rear bolt.

Which one is the rear? When I look at them I see the right and the left, the engine side and the wheel side.
