99 coupe auto trans issues
Hey Honda fam! My son has a canadian 99 civic coupe with an auto trans. All stock except stereo and CAI. motor and trans have 220,000 ish KMs on them. we recently replaced the waterpump and timing belt (I dont think that is related?) So recently the trans going from 3-4th would pull but not shift till 5-6000 rpm. we topped up the fluid (compatible but not oem honda) maybe a 1/3 of a liter. now he says it is slipping. I am not sure if this is a reason to do a manual swap or if symptoms have changed cause the day before i told him if it is still pulling to that rpm its not slipping just not shifting lol.
So I have read about getting some oem ATF and do the 3x3 and plan to try that in hopes it will last him till he collects all the swap parts. Anything else to look into? I have read about the cleaning of solenoid screens but not sure what one to do?
top of tranny by the upper rad hose is one lockup?
lower by passenger wheel shift solenoid?
and above that one the linear solenoid?
not sure what all the functions are of all the different solenoids are. also scared to pull them off to clean as the oring seals with the screens are all on backorder locally here.
