so i just got done replacing my clutch on my 1998 civic, d16y7 and now i have a loud squeaking noise when turning the key over. it starts, the starter is just a lot louder. my clutch is also softer than it was before after bleeding clutch. also after revving or driving and going into neutral the car will idle down almost to shut off. can someone please reply with some help or tips.

 

Can you briefly describe what you did to do the clutch job?

Without knowing what all you touched doing the job, it's going to be impossible to have insight into what may have gone sideways on you. i.e. pulling the engine to do the job versus not pulling the engine, totally different possibilities of what could be wrong. What plugs were unplugged? What parts got pulled? etc etc.

 

dropped the trans, only real thing we messed with that would make any sense is the starter i guess?. other than that everything connected to the trans basically. dropped the header but dont see that being to any value. but thats basically it.

 

Did the dowel pins between transmission and engine get omitted?
