2010 Honda Civic Ignition lock
My car key was sticky going into the ignition for a few weeks and got to the point of not going in at all. We replaced the ignition lock cylinder (ordered online and came with 2 keys without chips or electronics). The idea was that I could take the old chip out of the old key and put it inside the opening on the new key housing but that chip is soldered onto the electronics board. Anyway, I have tried holding the old key on top of the steering, tried holding it on top of the new key while attempting to start the car but it starts or just about starts but will not stay running. The green key light on the dash is flashing so I assume its an immobilizer issue? I have tried some tricks that I saw online about holding the key in the door lock for 30 seconds, and turning the key back and forth several times but nothing is working. Any ideas of what to try next or what will be my worst case scenario?
