Default New member New problem, no interior lights 06 CR-V

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a 06 crv, I love this little suv, super reliable, decent on gas, perfect work car and easy to work on. Recently a new issue has arose and I cannot figure it out. The interior lights won't come on when opening any door, except the rear door, it works properly. I tested all of the door switches and are working properly, checked the fuse and its good. Interiors lights work if turned on manually, and come on when engine is turned off. Door symbol on dash does not come on when key is turned on either, also if headlights are on chime does not come on if they are left on. Not sure if it's the bcm (if it is I have no clue how to test it) or if I can bypass it or wire the headlights to be always on when the key is on and off when the key is off. Also it is a EX model. Thanks!

So to be clear, the interior light - on the ceiling - does not come on when the key is out of the ignition and you open a door?
How did you test the door switches, which fuse did you check?

As for the headlight not chiming when left on w/ engine off... just don't leave them on when turning the car off lol. Probably the speaker isn't working.

The car does not recognize any door being opened, take for instance if I were ro unlock my car with my fob and I get in and wait the car would re-lock as if I never got in. The interior light only works if I switch it to on manually.
I tested the door switches by rwmoving each individually and bench testing them, essentially ohming them out, and all4 worked properly.

The Multiplex control system controls the function of these circuits:
  • Entry light control (ignition key light and ceiling light)
  • Wiper/washer (intermittent wipe and park functions)
  • Interlock system
  • Keyless/power Door Lock
  • Meter assembly, temperature gauge, and indicator lights
  • HVAC (Compressor and fan control)
  • Key-in reminder
  • Lights-on reminder
  • Seat belt reminder
  • Daytime running lights
  • Rear fog light
Hmm, a common denominator. This is from 2002 manual, not sure how similar it would be to an 06.

Spoiler

There are some diagnostic tests to run since it seems like you know how to use a multi-meter. There is a self diagnosis mode within the MCU itself, but apparently it requires a special tool to retrieve the trouble codes. Never had to do this myself.

Thank you this is what I was looking for, I will test this next week and follow up with the results. I appreciate the help, I may also run to u pull it and purchase an extra one, yes it may too be bad but they are only $14 so worth the shot. To be honest with all that I have read this thing controls I'm 99% sure mine is bad. My ac stopped working, also my cooling fans stopped last year but these little engines run so cool that I've never had an issue with over heating. (Last year on a hot day the temp rose just alittle bit waiting in a drive thru so I investigated and found both fans would not kick on no matter what, when the ac button is pressed the condesor fan should kick on which it does not and I jumped the wire to the coolant temp sensor demanding cooling and no fan. I have new fans I never installed so this would be awesome if this fixes all my issues that I've just put on the back burner!

I would not count on this fixing your fans. Did you put direct battery voltage to the fan motor terminals? Jumping switches and sensors isn't the best way to go about testing the fans, because you could have a failure in the circuit somewhere else. Either way, good luck and let us know what happens with replacing the MCU.
