2003 CR-V chasing codes
Picked up an '03 CrV 2 weeks ago, been battling with it ever since. Initially it was throwing misfire on 1 & 2 along with random misfire, and p0661. PO said he had injectors flowed & cleaned, valve adjustment, etc. First thing I did was throw plugs at it. No change, this thing was bucking and stalling if you let off the gas in gear or even if you just turned the fan on. Swapped coil packs 1>3 and 2>4, no change. Did valve adjustment.. aha she runs well now! But still misfiring on 1,2, random. Tossed in a new IMRC sensor, p0661 gone. Swap injectors just like coil packs now misfire is on 3 & 4, pop some 2008 crv injectors in and boom shes running smooth! I go for a few drive cycle, CEL comes on for p0171, and p0420 I soaked the cat in a bucket of phosphoric acid and get it back in only throwing p0171 now. Hunting for vacuum leaks I find nothing, so I pull the TB and notice theres a little gap.. buddy of mine tells me to adjust the throttle plate screw now she's feeling real good, doesn't want to drive itself @ 20 mph and brakes feel great now. Also while TB was out I removed the IACV it was fully rotational and fairly smooth I cleaned the surface rust that had started to settle on the bearing shield and gave it some hoppes #9 (gun oil) love. Slap that all back together and the p0661 (IMRC) code and misfire 1,2,3,4, and random all show up but still running great. In disbelief I just reset and drive the **** out of it which brings me to where I am now just throwing p0171 and p0420. Bank 1 o2 is a brand new denso. I really don't care if CEL is on but I cannot even title it in my name until it goes through emissions unfortunately. I'm beginning to think K is not the way 🤣 I was just about to start collecting K swap parts for my del sol but this experience is ruining that for me. Ive spent hours looking into all of these things over the past 2 weeks does anyone here have any insight?
So you buy someone's rented donkey and base your whole K experience on that?
It needs a cat. That misfire and age killed it.
Injectors are still suspect if it's got a lean code. 2008 is a completely different engine from the 2003. Could also be low fuel pressure.

So if cat is bad why would the cat code (p0420) go away for several days? Thats what I'm running into codes will go away for several days and reappear right when i think its ready for emissions. Also catalyst is the only monitor I'm not getting into ready status on, probably due to the fact theres always some random code floating around.
Buddy of mine says all K series injectors will work and it runs, drives, idles great. I am noticing headlight & interior lights tend to brighten when underload of AC that or it slightly dims when compressor kicks then brightens back up right away.
Funny thing about the injectors is salvage yard I go to gave a list of compatible vehicles accords & crvs upto 09 if I remember correctly, but oreilly website only shows 02-04 crv having the same injectors as an EP3
I did order a new cat on Amazon it will be here Monday
