CEL Fix for no CAT
I tried searching without any luck, but is there a way to fix the Check Engine light for not having a catalytic converter? I bought a CR-Z that came with an aftermarket exhaust and a cat delete pipe, but I don't want to spend $1000 on a new cat and I need it to pass emissions.
I added an O2 spacer on the secondary sensor to maybe "fool" the ECU but it didn't work, so is there anything that can be done? Like, would an aftermarket cat welded in place of the test pipe fix it?
Additional info: The car came with a Hondata tuned ECU but the actual Hondata handheld unit was missing. The ECU wouldn't ever be ready for emissions test due to it being "locked" by the Hondata, so it didn't matter how long I drove it, once I took it to emissions they would say that the ECU wasn't ready. I talked to Hondata and they said the only way to remove the tune and get it back to stock would be to buy another Hondata and maybe it would work but they couldn't guarantee it. I bought an OEM ECU and swapped it, so it is back to stock, but I guess that if I use the Hondata on it it won't let it pass emissions again.
Thank you!

They don't do a visual inspection here, they only plug their reader, so as long as there's a way to get the CEL to go away but the ECU still informs the test results correctly, is there a way to do this? Because at least with Mustangs the o2 spacer trick works just fine and they pass the test.
