Overcharging issues
After having some welding done on my 2000 civic ex coupe (with the battery disconnected) my brand new alternator has been overcharging my system up to 18v at 3k rpm my Srs light comes on and I am stumped on what could be causing it I took my alternator in and it tested normal but what could be causing this?
It seems like the voltage regulator is messing up. It is built in to the alternator, so that would mean that you would need to replace the alternator. I'm not sure if the test could catch that or not. However, I would first check if the wiring is not damaged and all your connections are good. I would try and see if there is anything visually wrong first before jumping to the conclusion but it can hurt your battery if not addressed.
