2021 Honda Accord Hybrid Battery Dead, Key can only be inserted halfway into keyhole
Hi there,
We just have a very heavy snow and a week long freezing temperature. My car (2021 Honda Accord Hybrid) slid into ditch. Some nice guy pull my car out. Given the bad weather, I decided to leave the car on the roadside and turned on the emergency lights. Two days later, I went back to the scene and found the battery completely dead. The key fob won't work. But to my surprise, the metal key which is hidden in the key fob can't be inserted into keyhole. It can only be inserted half way and then stop. Is it because the mechanical door opening also relies on electricity? Anyone has solution here? Of course I can call AAA to open the window. Just feel it's strange that the key can't get into the keyhole without electricity. Thanks!

You probably already figured this out, but your key lock cylinder is filled with dirt from never being used. Been a big issue with European cars for over 20 years. I always went in through the trunk on customer cars with dead batteries because trunk locks are often placed in the vertical position so gravity keeps dirt from settling in.
