Have a 2021 Accord EX-L with original Michelin Energy Saver A/S tires (225 50 R17) with 31k miles on them. Have experienced periodic low TPS alerts for a couple years now. Dealer has repeatedly inspected and said "they are low but seem ok". Last inspection, inflation and rotation was a month ago.
Today, a rear tire had a catastrophic malfunction where the sidewall completely tore away. Spouse was driving on highway in cold weather and immediately pulled over when she felt something happened with the rear tire. At most, she likely drove 100 to 150 meters to a safe pull-off. Yes, the tire was probably (slightly) low again due to extreme cold temp, but not enough to have noticed an issue when driving yesterday or earlier today.
I see complaints at this site about the same tire, albeit some not the most recent complaints. Has anyone else experienced issues with this tire on their Accord? I cannot imagine Michelin expects owners to inflate tires more than once per month.
Side note, which 225 50 R17 all-season tire do you prefer?
