2013 EX-L Transmission "Auto" Acceleration Issue
My EX-L 4cyl CVT has 117k miles on it and to my knowledge has not had any transmission maintenance done. Recently I've noticed a troubling issue when in low RPM and speeds, 0-25MPH, the car is accelerating on its own. Meaning I'll put it in drive from park, and it will accelerate to about 10MPH and stay there with no foot on the accelerator. If I accelerate up to 25MPH and release the gas, it will stay at 25, as if it were on cruise. The issue doesn't seem to happen above those speeds, where I take my foot off the accelerator at say, 40MPH, it will decelerate as usual.
I'm afraid this is a transmission issue, as the car will also "lurch" a bit when switching into drive from park, and drive from reverse. I was unable to find any matching instances of this through searching various matching terms, on this forum or otherwise. What I have found is that it isn't recommended to replace transmission fluid in cars if it has never been changed before (or not changed in some time), and that if you change it after you notice problems, it will just make the issue worse. I wanted to see if I could get some feedback before I take it to a mechanic or the dealer, fearing a high repair cost with my little to no knowledge on the subject. Any input helps, thanks!
