I have a f23a1 99 accord and unfortunately the idle when in park or neutral jumps between 850 and 1800 it might do it a few surges then will stop for a few seconds then do it again. Also when starting it seems almost soft like it’s barely turning over.

when putting it next to my friends accord it’s night and day. His is strong and starts immediately while mine is sluggish.

I was thinking a fuel issue seeming like the engine was almost choking on no fuel trying to start as well as not getting enough during idle.

Any ideas are appreciated.

 

Maybe clean or replace the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) and if the car still has the original Oxygen Sensor, replace it. Good sparkplugs are also essential to smooth running.
