2012 CRV no clock set after head unit swap
Hello,
I have a 2012 CRV with the navigation system. With the help of Crutchfield and a local installer, I replaced the stock nav system with an Alpine unit with CarPlay, dashcams, steering wheel integration, the works. The system works beautifully and is a very nice upgrade to the car.
BUT…
Since the car’s system clock was set through the old head unit, there doesn’t seem to be a way to change the time, and so the dash console display is persistently showing the wrong time.
I have seen YouTube videos showing how some 2012 CRVs without the nav system set the clock through the dash console’s menu system, but the menu item that would get me there doesn’t exist on my car.
The Honda dealership was unable to come up with a solution.
Does anyone here know of a way to set the car’s system clock without the stock head unit? Maybe by using the OBD2 port or maybe changing some kind of configuration in the car such that it no longer thinks the stock navigation system is installed and will give me the “Set Clock” menu item in the dash console?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Alex
