Honda CR-V 2019 hybrid 100k plus engine flash.
best way to flash Honda CR-V 2019 Hybrid 100k+ engine flash. engine not performing like before. need some advice how to restore engine performance.
Alright...this may be one of the strangest questions I've ever seen come up on here. Yes, cars have computers. No, cars aren't desktops or laptops. You can't defrag your ECM, clean up your registry keys, or eliminate background processes. There's an engine under the hood doing stuff with bangs and bams and spinny things. The computer monitors and controls it, but for a stock vehicle, the "performance" aspect is mostly mechanical.
What kind of performance are you missing? Does it feel low on power? Is your fuel economy suffering?
1. Use a code reader to see if you have any engine codes.
2. Check your tire pressures to make sure you aren't experiencing lots of rolling resistance from flat tires.
3. Verify that your calipers aren't locked up, holding a brake pad against the rotor.
4. Verify that your parking brake releases when you disengage it.
5. Check your fuel economy mathematically to see if it's tanked.
6. After driving a while, see if your catalytic converters are glowing hot indicating a flow restriction.
7. Check compression in each cylinder to see if you've got cylinder or valve damage.
8. Verify that your engine hasn't fallen out of time. If you've just had a belt or chain replaced (can't remember which applies to 2019's), verify the marks are aligned.
9. More stuff I can't think of right now...
If you really want to "flash your engine", remove the positive or negative battery terminal for a few minutes. Make sure you check for codes FIRST though, so if there are any stored, you don't lose them. They're your key indicator of a problem.
Most importantly, if you thought fixing performance issues was as simple as an ECM defrag, maybe pay someone else to run through the steps above.
