Crank no start, spark only on two cylinders
one day i hopped in my 91 hatch and it just cranked and didnt start. I replaced the fuel filter, its getting fuel you can smell it after you crank. I tested the wires and it wasnt getting spark, I had put on ngk wires a week or two before (i drove with them just fine and it doesnt work with the old wires anyways). I replaced ignition coil, nothing. I replaced main relay with a brand new one, it started for a second then stopped an never again. I got a tool to check where im losing spark, and theres power behind the distributor cap on the ignition coil. So i replaced the cap and rotor and it just cranks but now cylinders 2 and 4 are getting spark but still doesnt start, and the other 2 nothing. Not sure what to do it was running great and started up every time and never had any issues with the distributor until it just wouldnt start out of nowhere.
Sounds like you have a problem with your distributor. I believe there are 2-3 magnetic type sensors inside and could possibly be your issue. Do you have any CELs? Here's a thread on how to check your distributor components using an ohmmeter.
