88 CRX potentially bent frame
Pretty sure the CRX I bought from a barn had a bent frame. Guy said previous owner hit a curb, no idea how hard. Had it up on a lift, none of the suspension components look significantly off for it to cause about 15 degrees of positive camber. Any thoughts? Bought a spare shell for 400 to move over into if I have to. I also tried getting a traction bar to push the suspension around, had little to no effect. Thanks
15 degrees of positive camber is pretty significant. This would mean either one of the arms is an inch or more too short/long or the pickup point is no longer in the correct location and the tire would be sitting on the very outside edge of the tread. What ever the problem is, it shouldn't pass the eyeball test if indeed there is 15 degrees of positive camber.
What I would do as a starting point is take some measurements between the radius rod pickup points and the LCA pickup points, from the start of the seam weld jack point to the radius rod pickup points and between the jack points and the LCA pickup points. I would also pull the entire front suspension and measure each of the arms. For all you know, someone put the wrong length upper or lower control arm on the car. There are many of other ways you could also measure between two points to get an idea what is going on including using some lasers to build a box around the car and measuring at different points. So time to pull out the tools and measuring equipment and start checking the chassis over.
Also, moving the front crossmember will change the caster with minimum impact to camber.
